suzuki91 Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 i have just got my first supply of bio diesel. its the additive that you mix at a ratio of 5%. after my first trip the car seemed to drive smoother and quieter. i will see if the mpg has any improvement. any one else tried it yet? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 11, 2004 Report Posted June 11, 2004 Only on the continent - 80% mineral 20% veg. Ran OK - but smelt like doughnuts. Quote
galantlad Posted June 12, 2004 Report Posted June 12, 2004 According to my handbook for my 2003 tdi 115hp i quote "Do not use RME (bio diesel) except in the case of those proprietary diesel fuels which contain a mix of up to 5% Ford can accept no resposibility for damage caused by RME (bio diesel) in concentrations greater than 5%" Also the hand book quotes .........The prolonged use of addatives is not recomemended So Buyer Beware !!!!!! suzuki91 Posted June 13, 2004 Author Report Posted June 13, 2004 well it could be a good test for mine.its a 97 galxy 90 bhp with over 150k on the clock. <_< Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 13, 2004 Report Posted June 13, 2004 '97 engine won't be the PD variant though, will it? - so you may find that it is not as sensitive to fuel composition/quality as the PD ones, and the biodiesel may well be OK in it. Quote
suzuki91 Posted June 28, 2004 Author Report Posted June 28, 2004 just done the calculations after a full tank.the mpg has improved from 36mpg to 44mpg.im am very happy with that, looks like the bio desiel has cleaned the fuel system a treat. i'll let you know if anything happens in the long term. Quote
